RESOLUTION NO. 064 -1984
A RESOLUTION PERMITTING AND DIRECTING THE
JAIL COMMITTEE AND THE JAIL DESIGN TEAM
CONSISTING OF THE ENGINEERS AND ARCHITECTS TO
CONSIDER PRE-PROPOSALS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF THE JAIL ADDITION.
WHEREAS, bids have been received and rejected for the
expansion of the jail, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Commission to proceed
posthaste in developing plans and a contract to build said
addition, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. The Jail Committee, County Staff and the Design Team,
consisting of the engineers and architects, assigned to develop
plans and specifications for the addition to the jail be, and
they are hereby empowered to conduct a pre-proposal conference to
explain the amended project which has been conceptually accepted
by the Florida Department of Corrections on March 1, 1984 at
10:00 A.M. in the County Commission Chambers located at 310
Fleming Street, Key West, Florida.
The purpose of said meeting
shall be to solicit proposals to be subsequently submitted by
general contractors.
2. The County and the Design Team be, and they are hereby
empowered to publically open all such general contractor
proposals submitted following the pre-proposal conference,
prepare a tabulation thereof and report back to the Board of
County Commissioners with recommendations and for authorization
to enter into final contract negotiations with the lowest cost
qualified contractor and any further direction the Board deems
appropriate at that time.
3. The pre-proposal meeting set for the 1st of March at
10:00 A.M. in the County Commission Chambers at 310 Fleming
Street, Key West, Florida, be and the same shall be brought to
the attention of the public by an advertisement being placed in
the Key West Citizen and the Miami Herald announcing said
meeting.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the 24th day
of February, 1984.
