096-1984
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE BEACH RESTORATION
PROGRAM; SAID RESTORATION PROGRAM CONCERNS THE
AREAS FROM SMATHERS BEACH THROUGH HIGGS BEACH AND
TO INCLUDE THE INDIGENOUS PARK, REST BEACH, AND
THE AREA IMMEDIATELY ACROSS FROM THE INDIGENOUS
PARK WHERE THE RADIO TOWERS ARE LOCATED; INDICAT-
ING A DESIRE TO COOPERATE WITH THE CITY OF KEY
WEST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE AFORESAID BEACH
AREAS.
WHEREAS, the City of Key West has indicated that it is now
in the process of developing a plan to restore the beach areas,
including Smathers Beach through Higgs Beach, and to include all
of the beach areas and Indigenous Park and the area immediately
across the street from the Indigenous Park where the radio towers
are located, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the County to cooperate and
support this project, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That this contemplated beach restoration and enlarge-
ment program be and the same is hereby supported wholeheartedly
by the aforesaid Commission.
2. That the various representatives of the County in
Congress, including United States Representative Dante Fascell
and the United States Senators Lawton Chiles and Paula Hawkins be
requested to do all within their power to aid and abet this
effort in promoting such Beach Restoration Program.
3. That the Clerk of said Board is hereby directed to
forward certified copies of this resolution to the City of Key
West, Florida; Representative Dante Fascell; and U. S. Senators
Lawton Chiles and Paula Hawkins.

Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
