RESOLUTION NO. 246 -1984
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO INSTALL A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT
THE INTERSECTION OF U. S. #1 AND FOURTH
STREET, BIG COPPITT KEY, MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the Board
of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, that there
exists a serious traffic hazard at the intersection of U. S. #1
and Fourth Street, Big Coppitt Key, Monroe County, Florida, and
WHEREAS, fire trucks answering alarms enter the highway at
this intersection, and
WHEREAS, this area is heavily travelled by motorists and
citizens of Monroe county, Florida, and
WHEREAS, the Board desires to insure the safety of said
motorists and citizens travelling upon the highway at all 10-
cations within Monroe County, Florida, including the
above-specified intersection, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, hereby requests the State. of Florida Department
of Transportation to install a traffic signal, more particularly
described as a flashing red light, at the intersection of
U. S. #1 and Fourth Street on Big Coppitt Key, Monroe County,
Florida, for the purpose of alleviating the traffic hazard caused
at such location by fire trucks answering emergency alarms.
2. That the Clerk of said Board be and is hereby directed
to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the State of
Florida Department of Transportation for appropriate action.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the 7th day of September, A. D. 1984.
