RESOLUTION NO. 52 -1982
A RESOLUTION REQUESTING OFFICIALS OF THE FEDEP~L
GOVERNMENT AND OTHERS TO CO~1ENCE AND EXPEDITE
CONDEMNATION PROCEEDINGS ON PROPERTIES IN THE
EVERGLADES NATIONAL PARK.
WHEREAS, since 1973 various and sundry certificates have been
sold to properties in the Everglades National Park by Monroe County,
and
WlIEREAS, it appears that though the Federal government has
declared its intention to acquire these properties as part of said
park that in many instances nothing has been done in regard thereto,
and
WHEREAS, the delay by the Federal authorities and others to
initiate the condemnation proceedings has resulted in the loss of
certain tax funds to 110nroe County, and sums of monies to certain
tax certificate holders, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COHMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
1. That the authorities in charge of the acquisition of land
in the Everglades National Park be and they are hereby requested to
initiate immediate condemnation proceedings against those properties
in the Everglades National Park upon which tax certificates have been
issued for failure to pay the ad valorem taxes due thereon.
2. That protracted delay in concluding the condemnation of
the properties upon which certificates have been issued has caused
a loss of tax monies to Monroe County and the citizens who hold ad
valorem tax certificates on the various properties located in the
aforesaid park have jeopardized their investments by the delay of
the condemnation process.
3. That the Clerk of this Board is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the following:

4. That the aforesaid individuals and departments are urged
to initiate the proper condemnation proceedings in the Everglades
National Park on all properties against which certificates have been
issued as soon as is practicable.
5. That the County Administrator request an immediate reply
from all those to whom this resolution is directed as to the action
contemplated to be taken under this resolution.
Passed and adopted by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 26th
day of January, A.D. 1982.
