RESOLUTION NO. 087-1983
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT ON
OLD STATE ROAD 4A (OLD BUMPY) PROPERLY DESCRIBED
AS C-905, FORMERLY SR4A/5-905, AT APPROXIMATELY
MILE }~RKER 80.5 WHERE C-905 CROSSES U.S. #1 AT
THE LOWER END OF UPPER MATECUMBE KEY, THENCE
NORTHERLY TO APPROXIMATELY MILE MARKER 83.5 JUST
SOUTH OF THE WHALE HARBOR BRIDGE BEING A DISTANCE
OF APPROXIMATELY 3.3 MILES IN LENGTH; SETTING
SET SPEED LIMIT AT 30 MILES PER HOUR AND PROVIDING
THAT EXCEEDING SAID SPEED LIMIT SHALL BE PUNISHABLE
UNDER THE APPROPRIATE FLORIDA LAWS OR MONROE COUNTY
ORDINANCES.
WHEREAS, that the condition of Old State Road 4A (Old Bumpy) is
now in the process of being paved and reconditioned, and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Monroe County Commission to
provide a safe speed limit for said roadway, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNTY COMMISSION OF MONROE
COUNTY, that:
1. That a speed limit of 30 miles per hour be placed on Old
State Road 4A (Old Bumpy); best described as C-905, formerly SR4A/
5-905, at approximately mile marker 80.5 where C-905 crosses U.S. #1
at the lower end of Upper Matecumbe Key, thence northerly to approxi-
mately mile marker 83.5 just south of the Whale Harbor Bridge being
a distance of approximately 3.3 miles in length.
2. That said speed limit of 30 miles per hour shall become
effective upon the passage of this resolution and shall be enforced
under the provisions of the Florida State Statutes and/or the
Ordinances of Monroe County, Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners of Monroe County held on this
31st day of March
