RESOLUTION NO. 095_1983
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, OPPOSING THE PROPOSAL
BY THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE
SERVICES TO CLOSE A. G. HOLLEY STATE HOSPITAL.
WHEREAS, the A. G. Holley State Hospital, located in Lantana,
Florida, provides care and treatment for Florida tubercular patients,
and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative
Services has indicated its intention to close the A. G. Holley State
Hospital, and
WHEREAS, the A. G. Holley State Hospital is the only tubercular
care facility located in the State of Florida, and its closing would
result in Monroe County being required to incur costs for local
isolation units, recuperative service facilities and medical support
systems for tubercular patients in the County, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that:
1. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida,
expresses its opposition to the closing of the A. G. Holley State
Hospital, by the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative
Services, and request the said Deparmtent to maintain the facility
and the services now provided for tubercular patients in the State
of Florida, and the Clerk is directed to provide a copy of this
Resolution to the Governor, the members of the Cabinet, the Monroe
County Legislative Delegation, the President of the State Senate,
the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Secretary of
the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.
PASSED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners of Monroe County held on the 31st day of Harch, A.D. 1983.
