AGENDA ITEM WORDING: Approval of the Selection Committee ranking for Planning, Design,
and Construction Administration Services for the construction of an Upper Keys Government
Center, and to negotiate a contract with the top ranked firm.
If said negotiations fail, negotiations will resume with the next ranked firm until an acceptable
agreement is reached.
ITEM BACKGROUND: In November, 2004 a request for Professional Services for the Upper
Keys Government Center was advertised. On December 22, 2004 six responses were received in
Purchasing. On January 5, 2005 the selection committee consisting of the County Administrator,
Public Works Director, County Engineer and Construction Manager held a Public Meeting to rank
the firms. The firms that submitted proposals are Zelch & McMahon, Architects; Vaughn,
Wunsch, Masullo Architects, P.A.; Spillis Candela & Partners, Inc.; mbi - k2m Architecture;
Clemons, Rutherford & Associates, Inc.; and Currie Sowards Aguila Architects.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: This project is funded in the approved Capital
Improvements Plan.
