Ordinance 002-1976 ORDINANCE NO. 2 -1976 AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, LIMITING THE GROSS WEIGHT LOAD OF VEHICLES USING TRUMAN BRIDGE AT DUCK KEY, MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, EXCEPTING CERTAIN VEHICLES FROM SAID GROSS WEIGHT LOAD; REQUIRING THAT ALL VEHICLES ALLOWED TO USE TRUMAN BRIDGE TO OBEY ALL TRAFFIC SIGNS AND TRAF- FIC REGULATIONS POSTED AT SAID BRIDGE; PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; DECLARING SAID ORDINANCE TO BE AN E~lliR- GENCY ORDINANCE; PROVIDING WHEN THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE EFFECT. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. No motor vehicle of any nature whatsoever excepting passenger cars, pick-up trucks and emergency vehicles, to-wit: fire trucks, ambulances, and police vehicles, having a gross weight load of over 3,000 pounds shall be permitted to use Truman Bridge at Duck Key, Monroe County, Florida. Section 2. All vehicles using said Truman Bridge shall proceed with utmost caution. Section 3. All vehicles allowed to use said Truman Bridge under the terms of this Ordinance shall obey all traffic signs and traffic regulations posted at both entrances to said bridge. Section 4. All owners and/or drivers of any vehicle vio- lating provisions of this Ordinance shall be prosecuted in a county court by the prosecuting attorney thereof, and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine not less than $15.00 nor to exceed $500.00 or by imprisonment in the county jail not to exceed 60 days or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 5. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency ordinance due to the structural condition of said Truman Bridge and is necessary for the protection of the public health, welfare and safety of the persons using said bridge. Section 6.
