P4:3r RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES TO ENTER INTO A
LEASE AGREEMENT WITH MONROE COUNTY FOR BEACHFRONT
PROPERTY KNOWN AS CALOOSA COVE AND AUTHORIZING
THE NEGOTIATION AND EXECUTION OF SAID LEASE BY
THE PROPER COUNTY AUTHORITIES.

WHEREAS,
there exists certain beachfront
property
on
Matecumbe Key known as Caloosa Cove, and
WHEREAS,
said property has traditionally been used for
outdoor recreation, and
WHEREAS, said property has been under the control of the
Florida Departments of Transportation and Natural Resources, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has deeded their
right-of-way to the Department of Natural Resources, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Natural Resources has expressed a
willingness to enter into a long term lease with Monroe County
for the said property, and
WHEREAS, a lease would provide Monroe County with the site
control necessary to make Caloosa Cove eligible for state and
federal grants which could be used to improve the property, and
WHEREAS, there is widespread citizen support for improvements
at Caloosa Cove which would promote, protect, and enhance the
health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Monroe County,
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, that the said Board does hereby petition the
Florida
Department of Natural Resources to lease the said
property to Monroe County and the proper county authorities are
hereby authorized to enter into negotiations for preparation and
execution of the said lease.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held
on the Cf-l}' day of /JUjust , A.D. 1989.
