Cameras and accessories from Ten 8 Fire Equipment, Inc., the designated supplier ofMSA equipment
in the State of Florida, at a purchase price of $43,987.50, and approval to issue a Purchase Order to
Ten-8 Fire Equipment, Inc. for same.
ITEM BACKGROUND: A thermal imaging camera (TIC) allows fire rescue personnel to quickly
scan each room and see the location of any victims in a fire, and in a non-rescue situation, these
cameras allow a hose team to quickly locate the seat of the fire and apply water directly where needed,
eliminating unnecessary water damage. This also enhances firefighter safety by minimizing their
exposure to potential injury.
During Fiscal Year 2000, a like model TIC manufactured by MSA was purchased for Key Largo
Station 24 and has been successfully in use since that time. Having equipment uniformity throughout
our fire stations is prudent for reasons such as personnel training and familiarity, and obtaining
servicing and parts. Therefore we would like to continue using MSA cameras, and Ten 8 Fire
Equipment, Inc. is the designated supplier ofMSA equipment in the State of Florida.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOG ACTION: During the Fiscal Year 2006 budget process, the Board
approved funds to purchase five (5) thermal imaging cameras as part of phase 2 of deployment of TICs
countywide.
