ITEM BACKGROUND: At the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in June of 1997, the Board approved Ordinance #022-1997 which is limited to reimbursement of moving expenses for Division Directors and Department Heads. This ordinance will expand the authorization to key personnel as determined by the County Administrator. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: As stated above. WHEREAS, the high cost of obtaining satisfactory residential housing deters many qualified out-f-County persons from accepting employment with Monroe County; WHEREAS, that deterrent is made worse by the cost of moving to the Keys; and WHEREAS, it is desired to at least assist with the cost of moving to the Keys; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA: Section 1. Sec. 2-1(d), Monroe County Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: (d) The County Administrator is authorized to approve and sign reimbursement requests for moving expenses of newly employed department heads~ iJA6 division directors, or other kev oersonnel as designated by the administrator. who reside outside of the county at the time of hire. The amount paid may not exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). This subsection (d) is retroactive to January 1, 1995. Section 2. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or provision of this ordinance is held invalid, the remainder of this ordinance shall not be affected by such invalidity . Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent af said conflict. The provisions of this ordinance shall be included and incorporated in the Code of Ordinances of the County ot Monroe, Florida, as an addition or amendment" thereto, and shall be appropriately renumbered to conform to the uniform numbering system of the Code. Section 5. This ordinance shall take effect immediatelv upon receipt of official notice from the Office of the Secretary of State of the State of Florida that this ordinance has been filed with said Office.
