Key West, Florida
A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners and
the Key West City Commission convened on the above date at 5:30 P.M., at the Harvey
Government Center in Key West. Present and answering to roll call for Monroe County
were: Commissioner Charles "Sonny" McCoy, Commissioner Sylvia Murphy,
Commissioner George R. Neugent, Commissioner Dixie M. Spehar and Mayor Mario
DiGennaro. Present and answering to roll call for the City of Key West were:
Commissioner Teri Johnston, Commissioner Dan Kolhage, Commissioner Clayton
Lopez, Commissioner Mark Rossi, Commissioner Bill Verge, and Mayor Morgan
McPherson. Also present at the meeting were Thomas Willi, County Administrator; Jim
Scholl, City Manager; Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney; Shawn Smith, City Attorney;
Cheri Smith, City Clerk; Danny L. Kolhage, County Clerk; County and City Staff,
members of the press and radio; and the general public.
Both Boards discussed pending conflicts and issues between the City of Key West
and Monroe County concerning storm water utility fee assessments imposed by the City
of Key West for the Key West International Airport. Tom Will, County Administrator;
Pedro Mercado, Assistant County Attorney; David Fernandez, General Services Director
for the City of Key West; and Shawn Smith, City Attorney addressed the Boards. After
discussion, the matter was referred to the City and County Attorney for resolution to be
presented before both Boards for their consideration.
There being no further business, the meeting ofthe Board of County
Commissioners and Key West City Commissioners was adjourned.
