04/22/1998 Regular 98/122 MINUTES OF THE JOINT CITY/COUNTY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING Special Meeting Board of County Commissioners and city of Key West Wednesday, April 22, 1998 Key West, Florida A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners and the Key West city Commission convened at 6:00 P.M., on the above date, at the Harvey Government Center at Historic Truman. Present and answering to roll call for the County were Commissioners Keith Douglass, Shirley Freeman, Wilhelmina Harvey and Mayor Jack London. Absent was Commissioner Mary Kay Reich. Present and answering to roll call for the City were commissioners Harry Bethel, Charles "Percy" Curry, Sally Lewis, Merili McCoy, Carmen Turner, Jimmy Weekly and Mayor Sheila Mullins. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Josephine Parker, city Clerk; Isabel C. Desantis, Deputy Clerk; James T. Hendrick, County Attorney; Robert Tischenkel, City Attorney; James Roberts, County Administrator; Julio Avael, city Manager; County Staff, city Staff, members of the Press and Radio; and the general public. All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance. CITY ITEMS The City and County Commission together discussed the following items: Dog Track property - (affordable housing/sustainable communities). Drive-in theatre on Stock Island - (affordable housing sustainable communities). site for the Monroe County Fair. Pat Labrada, School Board member addressed the Board. Future of Senior citizen Nutrition Center at Douglass Square. Sewers at Big Coppitt (five year program). David 98/123 Fernandez, Director of utilities with the City of Key addressed the Board. Telecommunication contract with TCI. TDC funding - right-of-way cleaning. Julio Avael, city Attorney addressed the Board. Non-conforming mUffler/motorcycles. Richard D. Roth, Sheriff addressed the Board. Ad valorem taxes distribution. James Roberts, County Administrator addressed the Board. Toll booth on u.s. 1. Moped Ordinance. Mike Horne addressed the Board sustainable communities workshop in June. COUNTY ITEMS Greenway coordination (public transportation to Big coppitt). Drug problems on stock Island. Restoration/cleaning of beaches. Navy property. Park n Ride for County Staff. There being no further business to come before the Boards, the meeting was adjourned. Danny L.
