A Special Meeting/W orkshop of the Monroe County Board of County
Commissioners convened at 10:00 A.M., at the Harvey Govemment Center. Present and
answering to roll call were Commissioner Mario DiGennaro, Commissioner Sylvia
Murphy, Commissioner George R. Neugent, and Mayor Charles "Sonny" McCoy.
Absent was Commissioner Dixie M. Spehar. Also present at the meeting were Debbie
Frederick, Acting County Administrator; Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney; Danny L.
KoIhage, Clerk; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public.
WORKSHOP
Wayne Hinnant, Fire Chief presented the Board with a status report covering fire
department issues, including personnel staffing, station facilities, fire apparatus, and
budgetary concerns.
Camille Tharpe, representing Government Services Group, Inc. (GSG) presented
the Board with copies of the document entitled Monroe County, Florida - Fire Rescue
Department Assessment Program Workshop, dated March 5, 2008. Ms. Tharpe discussed
findings of the fire assessment study conducted and options to the County. No official
action was taken.
ITEMS PRESENTED BY BOCC FOR DISCUSSION
Tina Boan, Budget Manager and Rich Vandervoot, representing the Professional
Firefighter's Union addressed the Board concerning the proposed fire assessment fee.
There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners was adjourned.
