03/13/2000 Special ,.. MINUTES OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 2000/71 Special Meeting Board of County Commissioners! Tourist Development Council Monday, March 13,2000 Marathon, Florida A Special Meeting between the Monroe County Board of County Commissioner's and the Tourist Development Council convened at 10:00 A.M., on the above date at the Marathon Government Center. Present were Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey, Commissioner George Neugent, Commissioner Mary Kay Reich, Commissioner Nora Williams, and Mayor Shirley Freeman. TDC Board Members: Capt. Bill Wickers, Chairman; Michael Ingram, Robert Padron, Vice Chairman; Christina Sharpe, Treasurer; Amy Slate, Russell Teall, Alexa Wheeler. Absent was Commissioner Carmen Turner. Also present were Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Isabel C. DeSantis, Deputy Clerk; James T. Hendrick, County Attorney; James Roberts, County Administrator; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public. - ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS, DELETIONS There were no Additions, Corrections, or Deletions to the Agenda. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS/ TOURIST DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL Lynda Stuart, Office Manager of the Tourist Development Council read the Mission Statement of the TDC. Marlene Conaway, Planning Director was the facilitator for the discussion on the final results of the Monroe County's Registered Voters' Views on Tourism and Related Issues. Ann Murphy, Planner/Comprehensive Plan gave an overview of the report results. IDC EXPENDITURES/LOCAL PROJECTSfPUBLIC PARTICIPATION/OTHER The Board and Council discussed the availability of funds for local projects and policy changes. After discussion, public input was accepted with the following individuals addressing the Board: Rita Irwin, representing DAC III; Billy Causey, representing the Florida Keys - National Marine Sanctuary; Van Cadenhead, Eugene Shinkevich, representing the Florida Keys 03/14/2000 2000/72 ~ Citizens Coalition; John Dolan Heidinger and Virginia Panico, representing the Key West Chamber of Commerce; and Rick Berard, representing the Key West Hotel/Motel Association. There being no further business to come before the Board and Council, the meeting was adjourned. Danny L.
