A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners convened at
1:30 P.M., at the Harvey Government Center. Present and answering to roll call were
Commissioner Heather Carruthers, Commissioner Mario DiGennaro, Commissioner George
Neugent, Commissioner Kim Wigington, and Mayor Sylvia Murphy. Also present at the
meeting were Roman Gastesi, County Administrator; Debbie Frederick, Assistant County
Administrator; Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney; Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Isabel C. DeSantis,
Deputy Clerk; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public.
CLOSED SESSION
Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney read the required information into the record. An
Attorney-Client Closed Session was held in the matter of Monroe County v. Priceline.com, et aI,
09-10004CV.
COUNTY ATTORNEY
Bob Shillinger, Chief Assistant County Attorney requested approval to add to the agenda
the settlement terms with Orbitz in the matter of County of Monroe v. Priceline.com, et aI, case
number 09-1 0004-CIV and authorization for the County Attorney or her designee to execute any
and all settlement documents. Motion was made by Commissioner Wigington and seconded by
Commissioner DiGennaro granting approval to add the item to the agenda. Motion carried
unanimously. Motion was made by Commissioner DiGennaro and seconded by Commissioner
Carruthers granting approval ofthe settlement offer with Orbitz where they will pay a total of
$325,000 into the class settlement. Monroe County's portion of that amount would be just over
$100,000. Motion carried unanimously.
FISCAL YEAR 2011 BUDGET MEETING
A Presentation & Overview of the Proposed Fiscal Year 2011 Budget was made by
Roman Gastesi, County Administrator and Tina Boan, Sr. Budget Director. The Board was
provided with the document entitled Monroe County, Florida Board of County Commissioners,
Fiscal Year 2011 Proposed Budget, Roman Gastesi Jr., County Administrator, dated July 13,
2010, Key West, FL.
There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners
adjourned.
