RESOLUTION NO. 303 -2002
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA,
DIRECTING THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS TO
PLACE ON THE BALLOT A REFERENDUM QUESTION
REGARDING ASSESSMENT OF TAXES BY THE KEY
LARGO WASTEWATER TREATMENT DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida has enacted Chapter 2002-
337 establishing the Key Largo Wastewater Treatment District; and
WHEREAS, said law requires a referendum of the electors of the district to
approve the District assessing and imposing ad valorem taxes for three years; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is permissible under the laws of
Florida for the Board of County Commissioners to call for the referendum to be
placed on the ballot at the same time that the candidates for the governing board
are to be elected; and
WHEREAS, it is found to be in the best interest of the residents of the Key
Largo Wastewater Treatment District that the referendum be placed on the
November ballot; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
Section 1. The Supervisor of Elections of Monroe County is hereby directed
to place on the ballot at the General Election in Monroe County to be held on
November 5, 2002, within the following area: Key Largo, including all lands east of
Tavernier Creek, including Tavernier, Key Largo, and Cross Key, with the exception
of Ocean Reef, all in Monroe County, Florida, the following referendum question:
AD VALOREM ASSESSMENT FOR KEY LARGO
WASTEWATER TREATMENT DISTRICT.
SHOULD THERE BE ASSESSED WITHIN THE KEY LARGO
WASTEWATER TREATMENT DISTRICT AD VALOREM
TAXES FOR FISCAL YEARS 2003-2004 THROUGH 2005-
2006 TO ESTABLISH, OPERATE, AND MAINTAIN A
WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITHIN THE
DISTRICT, AT THE RATE OF 0.5 MILL FOR FISCAL YEAR
2003-2004, 0.4 MILL FOR FISCAL YEAR 2004-2005, AND
0.3 MILL FOR FISCAL YEAR 2005-2006?
Yes for the Assessment.
No against the Assessment.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe
County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said Board held on the 17th day of
July , 2002.
