Public Safety Division FROM: REFERENCE: Letter from Charles Bement, Chief, Florida Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, dated June 21, 2002 DATE: July 5, 2002 Attached herewith is a copy of the above referenced letter from Chief Charles Bement recognizing Monroe County Emergency Medical Services for its excellence as an EMS provider in the State of Florida. Our vehicles and service records were deemed to be outstanding during the recent service inspection by the State, This was made possible through a committed "Team Effort" by all of you, You are commended! The last two years have been very busy for Monroe County EMS, Successful grant applications during that period have provided for us to: 1,) Expand our Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Program to the County and cities law enforcement and career and volunteer fire departments, as well as at Key West International Airport, 2.) Train our personnel to function as medical flight crews, 3.) Equip Trauma Star with advanced medical equipment for permitting as an air ambulance, 4.) Provide funding for educational assistance to personnel for Paramedic training, 5.) Begin development of a computerized EMS Report, 6,) Purchase a new ambulance, and 7,) Purchase personal protection equipment and testing devices for response to incidents involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), B.S Emergency Medical Services July 5, 2002 Page 2 Additionally, a number of you have completed Paramedic and other advanced training programs, Your dedication and commitment to providing emergency medical services of the highest quality to the residents and visitors of our County is appreciated, A copy of this and Chief Bement's letter will be placed in your personnel files.
