The Florida Keys Council For People With Disabilities is plea$ed to preSent its Award for

Outstanding Service to disabled persons in Monroe Count)! to Congre$ation B'Nai
Zion, Key West. This award recognizes the outstan4ing contributions of this
organization in improving access to religious and communitY programs fof people with
disabilities. Founded in l887, this synagogue has long been a central pill~r of the Key
West community. The congregation supported Jose Marti's revolution in Cuba, forming
an enduring link between the Keys and Cuba. l
After a tragic arson fire in 2002, B'Nai Zion's building was rebuilt wi It ~ll access for

disabled congregants and visitors. Since the destruction of their building by Hurricane
Wilma in 2005, B'nai Zion has generously shared its refurbish~d facility with Unity of the
Florida Keys. The current Rabbi, Shimon Dudai has actually i~vented adaptive
