SIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, DIRECTING
ALL MONROE COUNTY ANIMAL SHEL TERS TO ACCEPT
CHECKS FROM MONROE COUNTY RESIDENTS AS
PAYMENT FOR FINES, FEES AND/OR OTHER RELATED
COSTS.
WHEREAS, the County's Animal Shelters are operating under a
"cash only" policy with regard to payment of fines, fees, etc.,
and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined
that the Animal Shelters' "cash only" policy should not apply to
Monroe County residents, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. Effective
February 13
, 1990, all Monroe
County Animal Shelters shall accept checks, drafts, or other
orders from Monroe County residents for the payment of fines,
fees and/or other related costs, upon satisfactory proof of
identification and residency. Proof of residency shall be in the
form of a driver's license, voter registration card, library
card, or tax payment receipt.
Section 2. There shall be a service fee of $15 or 5% of the
face amount of the check, draft or order, whichever is greater,
for the collection of a dishonored check, draft or other order
for the payment of money to the Monroe County Animal Shelters.
The service fee shall be in addition to all other penalities
imposed by law.
Proceeds from the fee shall be retained by
Monroe County Animal Shelters. Any dishonored check, draft or
other order will also result in the maker being place on a "cash
only" status with regard to any future transactions with the
Monroe County Animal Shelters.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting held on the J~t:A
