04/03/2007 Special/Workshop 65 MINUTES OF THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS Workshop/Special Meeting Board of County Commissioners Tuesday, April 3, 2007 Marathon, Florida A Workshop of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners convened at 10:00 A.M., at the Marathon Government Center. Present and answering to roll call were Commissioner Sylvia Murphy, Commissioner George R. Neugent, Commissioner Dixie M. Spehar and Mayor Mario DiGennaro. Absent was Commissioner Charles "Sonny" McCoy. Also present at the meeting were Thomas Willi, County Administrator; Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public. Jerry Coleman, P.L., representing Monroe County - Workforce Housing; Tom Willi, County Administrator; and Mayor DiGennaro updated the Board concerning their trip to Tallahassee to meet with Governor Charlie Christ and Tom Pelham, Department of Community Affairs Secretary to discuss issues concerning Workforce Housing, De-designation, Wastewater Funding, and Preservation of sensitive lands. The Board discussed the following key issues with Administration and County Staff: Working Waterfronts - Rich Jones, Senior Marine Planner gave a brief overview of Phase II of the Working Waterfronts Preservation Project; Guidance provided at the March 21 st BOCC meeting; Explanation/design of working waterfront ordinances; and the finalizing of ordinances to be ready for the Development Review Committee, Planning Commission, and the Board of County Commissioners. The following individuals addressed the Board: Bruce Popham, representing the Marathon Boat Yard; Doug Gregory, representing Monroe County and the Florida Sea Grant Extension; Scott Zimmerman, representing the Commercial Fishing Association; and Diane Beraldsen. Pigeon Key Update - Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney informed the Board that she had not been provided with financial statements from Pigeon Key. Jim Ryhne, representing Pigeon Key addressl~d the Board. The following staff members from United State Senator - Florida, Mel Martinez' office were present in today's meeting: Nelda Padro sa, Michael Bassett, Gene Gallagher and Brian Walsh. The Board discussed wastewater funding requests and environmental issues. Ms. Padrosa addressed the Board. Mobile Home Redevelopment Moratorium - The Board discussed a proposed mobile home redevelopment moratorium. The following individuals addressed the Board: Robert Cintron, representing several mobile home park homeowners Associations David deHaas, Bill Loewy, Diane Beraldsen, and Mike Cunningham, representing Lucky's Landing. 66 There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was adjourned.
