nationalism, patriotism, heroism and the ultimate recognition of
all those who have died in its service or defense; and
WHEREAS, the president and the congress of the United States
of American have publicly voiced their desire for "grass roots"
support for the American Flag; and
WHEREAS, the Florida State Legislature in its 1990 session
did designate Flag Day - June 14th as a legal holiday as defined
in Section 683.01, F.S.; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, that the Board hereby declares Flag Day
(June 14th) a non-paid legal holiday in Monroe County to honor
the symbol of the flag and urges all citizens to observe and
participate in any festivites planned therefor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of the Board held on
the 3rd day of October, 1990.
