RESOLUTION NO. 585 -1990
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AND ENDORSING,
JOINTLY WITH THE CITY OF KEY WEST, THE CREATION OF A
FILM COMMISSION IN MONROE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, motion picture and television production is one
of the largest growth industries in the State of Florida,
bringing more than $150 million worth of business to the
state in the last year; and
WHEREAS, Monroe County and the City of Key West are
receiving an increased amount of interest and.activity from
the motion picture and television production industry; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Secretary.of State's office,
recognizing the importance of the industry, has established
a Motion Picture Office within its own organization, and
WHEREAS, a Film Commission Office, providing service
and reference to motion picture production companies has
been established within the Greater Key West Chamber of
Commerce and the Greater Key West Chamber is the state
appointment for this function; and
WHEREAS, the Film Commission will be seeking guidance
and support from both the City of Key West and Monroe
County;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, and separately by
the Mayor of the City of Key West, together with the City
Commissioners of Key West, the following:
Section 1.
Monroe County and the City of Key West
jointly support and endorse the creation and operation of a
Film Commission in Monroe County.
Section 2.
The County and the City offer their
wholehearted support in furthering th�ne� success of that
office, and to the eve�fi i N�aC�Alic- betterment of the
entire area.

PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners
of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular meeting of said
Board held on the 14th day of November, 1990.

NOW, 7HEREFURE, BE IT RESMVED by the City Commission of the City of Key
West, Florida as follows:
Section 1. The City of Key West supports and endorses the creation and
operation of a Film Commission in the Greater Key West area;
Section 2. The City of Key West offers its wholehearted support in
furthering the success of that office, and to the eventual economic betterment
of the entire area.
Section 3. This Resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its
passage and adoption and authentication by the signatures of the presiding
officer and the Clerk of the Commission.
Passed and adopted by the City Commission at a meeting held this 17thday
