DISPOSITION:
YEARS OF SERVICE AWARD
GLORIA GOODMAN
MANAGER, MARATHON BRANCH LIBRARY
Gloria Goodman started her career with Monroe County as a Library
Assistant at the Marathon Branch. She was quick to learn library
procedures, and soon gained popularity among the patrons for her warmth
and helpfulness.
One of her regular assigned duties during this time was the
Children's programming for the Marathon Branch, and her natural talents
and enthusiasm in this area helped these programs to grow and become a
major attraction at the Library. Many of the Marathon children came to
know and love her as "Mrs. Goodman, the Library Lady."
When the position of Branch Manager became open in 1991, the
selection of Gloria for that assignment was a natural one. Her experience
with the Library and her support from the Community made her the
obvious choice. This was made clear when she was named "Monroe
County Employee of the Month," in recognition for her achievements as
Branch Manager.
GlOria has become known for her community involvement and her
caring for those around her, and that feeling is returned by her community.
As Manager, she continues her work with the children of the area. She
completed the studies for a degree in education, and has applied that
knowledge to her everyday interaction with her young patrons.
Gloria regularly carries on an outreach program to local schools,
taking her love of books to children who cannot always come to the Library
to participate in programs there.
Her dedication to Library service has been a hallmark for twenty
years, and the entire Marathon community recognizes her contributions to
the people of Monroe County. We congratulate Gloria Goodman for twenty
years of service.
