CURRY, 36-C 10th STREET, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA.
ITEM BACKGROUND:
The mobile home primary residence ofMr. Otis Curry, an elderly and disabled resident of Monroe
County for over 33 years, has fallen into complete disrepair and has been determined uninhabitable.
Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Keys has committed to replace the unit and seeks public
funds to offset the cost of this project. The public monies dedicated in support of this effort are
recaptured federal/state funds reserved the rehabilitation of very-low/low income owner occupied
housing.
PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION:
Resolution #046-200 I Authorizing assignment of elderly homeowner rehabilitation program funds to
Habitat for Humanity of Key West and the Lower Florida Keys, on behalf
of the very-low income/handicapped household of Otis Curry.

A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ASSIGNMENT OF ELDERLY
HOMEOWNER REHABILITATION PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $5,093.84 TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF KEY
WEST AND THE LOWER FLORIDA KEYS, INC., ON BEHALF OF
THE VERY-LOW INCOME/HANDICAPPED HOUSEHOLD OF OTIS
CURRY,36C 10lh STREET, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA
WHEREAS, The Special Programs Office, Monroe County Housing Authority, is the County's program
administrator for the County's recaptured funds from the Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program with the
State of Florida; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc., is a non-profit entity
recognized as a qualified partner providing construction and housing-rehabilitation services to very-Iow- and
low-income households in Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc., has committed to to
replace the hurricane-damaged home of Mr. Otis Curry with a handicap-accessible replacement unit at
considerable material and labor cost;
WHEREAS, the value of the construction services provided far exceeds the funding provided in support
of this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County,
Florida, that Monroe County hereby:
Authorizes the expenditure by the Special Programs Office, Monroe County Housing Authority, of
funding in the amount of$5,093.84 from Fund #100-01002-530340, which isfunds recaptured under the
Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program, for reimbursement to Habitat of Humanity of Key West and Lower
Florida Keys, Inc., for authorized costs in the rehabilitation of the property of Mr. Otis Curry, a very-Iow-
income household, located at 36-C 10th Avenue, Stock Island, Florida. Authorizes a budget tramfer in the
amount of$999. 73 from Fund #/00-01002-530341 to Fund #100-01002-530340 to fully fund the cost of the
property repairs from funds previously designated for program administration purposes.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, at a regular
meeting of said Board on the 181h day of September, A.D., 2002.
