This award is given for overall excellence in disabled access to the Church facilities. Through your efforts in providing access to your Church and its facilities, you have allowed disabled people to participate in the many activities that are held there each year. We commend you, your superiors, and your staff for your continuing efforts on behalf of people with disabilities. . ,fflapor'g ~roclamation WHEREAS, since its founding in 1995 by sculptor Jim ~hi, Art in the Park has amually provided a venue, for exhibiting sculpture in the unique harborfront setting of Fort Zachary Taylor; and WHEREAS, for the past ,7 years, the Florida State Park Service has generously opened its facilities and provided,staff assistance to Art in ,the PQrk, e.,abling Art in the Park to become an annual event attracting many visitors to the historic Fort and its environs; and WH~ReAS, the non-profit group, Friends of Fort Taylor, hascopably coordinated the annual Art in the Park event, contributing substantially to its success and growth; and WHEREAS, recently, members of the arts community formed the Committee for Art in the Park, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to broaden the scope of the annual event and to bring national, attention to what should soon become a widely- recognized annual sculpture exhibition.; and WHEREAS, this year, the Monroe County Tourist Development Council has provided funding to Art in the Park, in recognition of the important role that the arts can play in cultural tourism, as evidenced by the international recognition accorded the Venice Biennale and the recently-organized Art Basel Miami Beach: now, therefore The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida would like to express the Board's gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the Florida State Park Service, its staff, the members of the Friends of Fort Taylor, and the Committee for Art in the Park, by proclaiming January 12 as ART IN THE PARK DAY and encourages all c;itizens to visit Fort Taylor, particularly during the forthcoming Art in the Park event, while preserving our historic treasures for future generations to enjoy.
