A Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners
convened at 9:00 A.M., at the Harvey Government Center. Present and answering to roll
call were Commissioner Sylvia Murphy, Commissioner George R. Neugent,
Commissioner Dixie M. Spehar and Mayor Mario DiGennaro. Absent was
Commissioner Charles "Sonny" McCoy. Also present at the meeting were Thomas Willi,
County Administrator; Darmy L. Kolhage, Clerk; County Staff, members of the press and
radio; and the general public.
DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION ON BUDGET ISSUES
Tom Willi, County Administrator and Sal Zappulla, Division Director - Budget &
Finance discussed Monroe County budget issues. The following individuals addressed
the Board: Jamie Pipher, representing the Guidance Clinic of the Middle Keys; Michael
Funk, representing the Care Center for Mental Health; Greg Jones, Diana Flenard,
representing the MARC House; and Kay Thacker. After discussion, motion was made by
Commissioner Murphy and seconded by Commissioner Spehar that the 5% cut in the
Human Service Advisory Board (HSAB) monies go back to the HSAB for their
recommendation on disbursal. Roll call vote was unanimous.
Community Services Director, Deb Barsel, Dave Koppel, County Engineer and
Construction Management; Andrew Trivette, Growth Management Director; Teresa
Aguiar, Division Director - Human Resources; and Lisa Druckmiller, Acting Technical
Services Director discussed proposed budget reductions to their budgets.
Tom Willi, County Administrator discussed the 304 Fund Account and other
county matters.
There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County
Commissioners was adjourned.
