(~ ~ ~~ D D" '\ h~~ .,Y ~ JUt( ... 4 1001 May 22, 2007 Sheriff Roth: The Key West Jr. Football League is in desperate need of some financial assistance and we dOI,1't know where else to turn. As we all know Hurricane Wilma truly affected US 011 in many different ways. Each of the board members suffered great personal loss as a result but felt the need to try and keep the league going in 2005 to continue some type of normalcy in the lives of our children. As a result of this we never truly realized how much loss the league really took until we tried to restart the season in 2006. We have had to replace more than $15,000.00 in equipment due to loss as well as replacement of uniforms. We do not turn any child away and because of that our hardship numbers were and are way up. We are truly overwhelmed and don't know where to turn. We played our season out and all of our kids played, however this has left us with on outstanding debt that we are struggling to payoff. We also are still dealing with equipment issues because the room where we store our excess equipment flooded during Wilma and ruined everything that was in there. Our league currently services over 750 kids from Big Pine to Key West as well as traveled in past years to Marathon and Key Largo to provide those children on opportunity to play. Due to the large debt and the struggle for money we have had to eliminate traveling this year. Our travel expenses alone run the league approximately $7300.00 We are desperate and struggling to be able to have a season this year as a result of the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. We need your help, and are asking if there are any funds available to help offset the loss and aide us in our efforts to continue to provide the youth of this community with a safe activity for them to get involved in. Thank you for taking the time to listen to our needs. I can be reached at 360-0686.
