RE: Agenda Item - Request for Expenditures from Law Enforcement Trust Fund
Dear Mr. Roberts:
I would like to request that the Commission authorize the following
expenditures from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund:
$3000 This will pay the costs of sending four children with severe
disabilities to Easter Seals' Camp Challenge. This week-long camp swnmer camp
experience is like none other: the staff ratio is one staffer to two campers, permitting
these young people to enjoy traditional camp activities and creating memories to last
a lifetime.
$5000 This swn will continue to fund the "Sully" scholarships
awarded by the Russ Sullivan Scholarship Committee at Florida Keys Community
College. The Committee helps fund the education of local residents interested in
pursing criminal justice studies.
$2540 These funds will support the Coral Shores High School cross-
country team by purchasing timing devices, fitness chutes, uniforms and travel
expenses.
$12,400 This will be given to FKCC's College Reach Out Program,
designed to provide academic support and enrichment activities to "at risk" yooth in
Monroe County.
$5000 This amount will help fund "Keys Kids" summer theater
workshop. This vety successful program, spearheaded by Executive Director Nora

Revelin, has produced large musical theater productions for hundreds of Lower
Keys youths for several years.
$7472.00 This will purchase equipment for our regional Dive Team: three
Viking dry suits to allow safe diving in contaminated waters, subsurface video
equipment, and a three-unit underwater radio system to allow communication
between divers and the shore.
$30,412.00 TOTAL
I hereby certify that these expenditures are lawful pursuant to the Florida
Contraband Act. There will be no recurring expenses in the existing budget.
