Hello Theresa,
I am sending this fax to follow up with our telephone conversation last month. In
that teJecon I had requested permission to operate at your airport for a skydiving
event in February 2003. Your response was in favor, if no conflict existed with
the dates. Our intent is to run on Friday, Jan. 31st through Tuesday, February
4th. We would like the option of running the following weekend as a raindate,
Similar to last year's event, we will again keep this event quite small in
comparison to the November event held by Skydlve Sebastian. We are placing
a limit on participants of 100 and we will operate only one Twin Otter. All
jumpers will be 18 years or older, and each will be required to hold a USPA 'C'
license or equivalent. (Please note lhe 'C' license requires 100 jumps, as
opposed to a'S' which requires only 50 jumps.) We will also exercise diligence
in assuring the currency and skill level of each jumper, As for risk management.
we will use the same hold harmless agreement that was approved for last year.
We feel that by using greater scrutiny and requiring a higher experience level of
the participants, we can hold a safer, controlled event which will not cause any
undue burden on the airport and the city. As a full time skydiving professional, I
fully realize that there are restrictions which must be considered when jumping at
a facility such as Marathon, Th.,,:se standards are what we used last year and
the facl that our event went so smoothly with no incidents should speak for itself.
We intend to utilize the DAV building and parking lot for our people. Likewise,
we will use the same landing area in the proximity of the DAV, and gain access
via the gate to their parking lot. At this time, we are planning to bring about a
dozen people from Ohio and another dozen or so from New England. We would
expect to have another 30 to 40 people from the local area throughout the time
period . In consideration of the people travelling from up North, I would like to
be able to confirm witt1 them that we are authorized to jump at the requested
times. Many of them have already made airline and hotel reservations and
confirmation from you would allow these participants to follow through with their
reservation plans.
Many of our group will be staying in Marathon for the entire week with the intent
of scuba diving and doing the rest of the normal tourist activities. We are looking
forward to spending our vacation time in Marathon again this year and we would
like to make this an annual event. Please respond and let me know if this plan
works for you. Please use my cell to contact me, the number is 330-714-2000.
