Dear Sheriff Ross:
It is a privilege and honor to write you without.a complaint. I'm sure you hear enough of
them. I too am a public servant and understand its joys and concerns. Therefore, I'd like
to thank you for all you and your staff do for the beautiful island of Key West.
Also, beginning September 4, the Trinity Presbyterian Church, sponsored by The
Community Faith Based Network, will begin its after school tutoring program at the
church's location. We're tutoring "At Risk" youth between third and eight grades. The
program will also include character building tools. It is our desire to help our children
with their FCAT grades and their behavior.
Unfortunately, we are $5000 short of the instructional material needed. We understand
that you have fmancial resources that may assist us.
Please contact Dr. Magby at (305) 296-3318 or Phyllis Allen at (305) 294-5461 if you are
in need of further information. Your immediate response would be greatly appreciated.
Bless You,
Rev. Dr. Gwendolyn D. Magby

Dear Take Stock In Children (2007-2008) Seniors,
It is my pleasure to announce an exciting new program. being offered for the first time to
all Take Stock In Children scholars in Monroe County. During the 2007-2008 school
year, all Take Stock In Children scholars, along with a group of volunteer mentors will be
participating in the Crossroads Adventure Camp. The first participants are going to be
YOU-the senior class, starting August 2007 when you return to school as SENIORS.
This unique and exciting program is being offered through collaboration between Take
Stock In Children and the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranches. Seniors need to mark their
calendars now and plan to attend during the week of Sept. lad through Sept. 7th.
The Crossroads Adventure Camp is completely inclusive and is offered at no charge to
our students. The camp will provide transportation, lodging, all meals. and seminars.
Activities are designed to support our students with the encouragement needed to decide
which paths in life to follow. The camp provides a blueprint to use for planning for
future success. Several sessions are focused on choices to help students become more
prepared to make important life decisions concerning friendships, money. and leadership.
In addition to the camp and all of the activities, students will also have the opportunity to
have a guided tour of Santa Fe Community College and the University of Florida in
Gainesville.
There will be an orientation for all students, mentors and parents held in August prior to
departure. All students should plan to depart on Sunday, September 2nd and will return
on Friday, September 7th. The Camp is located in Inglis, Florida about an hour north of
Tampa. We expect that all Take Stock In Children seniors will welcome this opportunity
and will participate.
Both Take Stock In Children and the Florida Youth Ranches are working hard for the
youth of Florida, keeping them safe, out of trouble, and striving to make them successful
and productive citizens.
Respectfully,
Jim Hall
Program Coordinator
