Agenda Item Wording: Approval to purchase property - Plantation Key acreage RE #93310 and part
of 93300 / Village of Islamorada.
Item Background: This acquisition is proposed to protect natural resources. The Village of
Islamorada has nominated this vacant property located on the oceanside of Plantation Key at mile
marker 87 for purchase by the Land Authority for conservation and recreational uses. Following
purchase by the Land Authority, the Land Authority would convey the property to Islamorada subject to
a conservation easement. The property consists of a 3.3 acre oceanfront parcel of hammock and
wetland vegetation zoned Residential Estate, together with 1.4 acres of baybottom. This agenda item is
limited to the issue of purchasing the property. The decision to convey the property to Islamorada and
the determination of appropriate conservation easement restrictions will be addressed at a future Soard
meeting.
The Land Authority's standard purchase contract will be used in this transaction, with the closing
contingent upon subsequent conveyance of the property to Islamorada. The agenda packet
spreadsheet lists the purchase price and anticipated closing costs for this transaction.
Advisory Committee Action: On November 26, 2002 the Advisory Committee voted 4/0 to approve
the item. The Committee also approved conveying the property to Islamorada subject to a conservation
easement restricting future use of the property to only conservation uses.

County Land Authority.
