Spehar, District 1 George Neugent, District 2 Sylvia I Murphy, District 5 This item requests approval for the settlement of a workers' compensation claim of a BOCC employee with the date of accidents, September 26, 2005 and May 23, 2002. A private mediation was held on January 2, 2008 which included consult with a representative of the County Attorney's office. This case was resolved in full, settling all past, present and future medical and indemnity benefits for $45,000 inclusive of attorney's fees and costs and applicable liens, if any. As part of this consideration, the claimant agreed to voluntarily resign from employment [effective immediately] and execute a waiver and general release in favor of the employer, Monroe County. It is recommended that the BOCC approve the settlement in the amount of $45,000.
