This item requests approval for the settlement of a workers' compensation claim of a BOCC employee with
the date of accidents, September 26, 2005 and May 23, 2002.
A private mediation was held on January 2, 2008 which included consult with a representative of the County
Attorney's office. This case was resolved in full, settling all past, present and future medical and indemnity
benefits for $45,000 inclusive of attorney's fees and costs and applicable liens, if any. As part of this
consideration, the claimant agreed to voluntarily resign from employment [effective immediately] and
execute a waiver and general release in favor of the employer, Monroe County.
It is recommended that the BOCC approve the settlement in the amount of $45,000.
