Key West, Florida
A Regular Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County
Commissioners convened at 9 a.m., on the above date, at the
Holiday Inn Beachside. Present and answering to roll call were
Commissioners Shirley Freeman, Wilhelmina Harvey, Jack London,
Mary Kay Reich and Mayor Keith Douglass. Also present were Ruth
Ann Jantzen, Deputy Clerk; James Hendrick, County Attorney; James
ROberts, County Administrator; County Staff, members of the Press
and Radio; and the general public.
All stood for the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance.
ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS, DELETIONS
There were no Additions, Corrections or Deletions.
COHMISSIONERS ITEMS
Commissioner Freeman addressed the Board concerning her
trip to Eglin Air Force Base and submitted a list of questions to
Air Force representatives present that were received in her
office concerning the Theater Missile Defense Proposal.
Mayor Douglass discussed a letter he received from
Senator Graham's office, in response to his letter concerning the
Theater Missile Defense proposal.
Colonel Michael L. Buck, Vice Commander of 46th Test
Wing Air Force Development Test Center, Major Thomas Kennedy,
Defense Test Manager, and Walt Monteith, Range Safety Expert, all
from Eglin Air Force Base, addressed the Board and made a
presentation of the environmental impact study evaluation
process, including safety. The following individuals addressed
the Board: Gino Landini, representing the Condominium
Association of Cudjoe Key; Elizabeth Cofer, Wilson Henize, Dick
Moody, Emily Boyd Lowe, Donald S. Lowe, David E. Musselman and
Jerry polverino representing the Cudjoe Gardens Property Owners
Association, Dennis Henize, Rudy Montana and Gordon A. West,
representing the Sugarloaf Property Owners Association,

R. L. Blazevic, Sol Rosenblatt, Irving Weinman, Nancy Graham,
Richard Herbert, Mary Alice Herbert, Gae Ganister, Chris
RObinson, Judith Kazantzit, Elliot Baron, representing Last
Stand, Barbara Arthur, Robin Orlandi, Carol Colburn, Diane Lind
and Laine Dabe. Christopher Lehman, Monroe County Consultant,
addressed the Board.
Colonel Buck, Major Kennedy and Mr. Monteith addressed
the Board and audience and answered many questions addressed to
them by the speakers.
There being no further business to come before the
Board, the meeting was adjourned.
