Resolution 100-2000 RESOLUTION NO. 100-2000 RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY ENCOURAGING COUNTY EMPLOYEES TO PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL MENTORING AND TUTORING PROGRAMS WHEREAS, Monroe County recognizes the importance of our youth and the need for our youth to have mentors and tutors from the community; and WHEREAS, benefits received from school mentoring and tutoring programs provide long-term benefits of reduced truancy, juvenile delinquency, and drug involvement; and WHEREAS, such involvement creates opportunities to enhance characteristics of responsible and thoughtful governance among future generations of citizens; and WHEREAS, the State of Florida and the Monroe County Sheriffs Department have recognized the benefits of similar programs to increase employee participation in school mentoring and tutoring programs; and WHEREAS, Monroe County wishes to provide a similar incentive for employees to participate in school mentoring and tutoring programs to benefit the Florida Keys including the TAKE STOCK IN CHILDREN program. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. 1. Each employee may be granted by the County Administrator up to one hour of administrative leave per week, not to exceed five hours per calendar month, to participate in school mentoring and service programs. 2. In granting administrative leave under this section, the County Administrator shall take into consideration the impact of such leave on the employee's work unit. 3. If an employee is granted administrative leave under this section and does not use the administrative leave as authorized in this section, the employee shall not accrue or be paid for such unused leave.
