LAW DAY FROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, this country was founded on the principle that voluntary adherence to
the role of law expands, rather than faults, the opportunifiies for freedom; and
WHEREAS, a viable democracy requires understanding of the nature and basis of
our freedoms And recognition of the Individual responsibilities which tbohe
freedoms impose; and
WHEREAS, the Law Day ZO(K fiftieth anniversary theme of The Rule of Law:
Foundation for Commmunities of Opportunity and F VAq MCaWMW US all to
examine the rule of law, our role in its stability, and its role in protecting our
communities, our democracy, opportanW, egnity, and as that is most precious
to us.
NOW, THEREFORE, by the virtae of the power rented in ase.as Mayor of Monroe
County, I, Sonny McCoy, de hereby proclaim Thursday. May 1, 2006, as
LAW DAY USA
I urge the citizens, schools, businesses and media of Monroe Cotnty to use this
occasion to dedicate ourselves to preserve and strengthen the rule of law.
