This Resolution will enable Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys, Inc., to apply for participation in the State of Florida's Community Improvement Act of 1980. ITEM BACKGROUND: Florida Statute 220.183, known as the Community Improvement Act of 1980, allows various organizations, if qualified, to apply for certain tax credits. One of the items required for the application is a resolution from local government stating that the organization complies with the rules and regulations of the local government. Both Habitat for Humanity of the of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc, and Habitat of Humanity of Marathon, Inc,. have asked for and have received similar resolutions. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Resolution 155-2001 and Resolution 474- 2001 relating to Habitat for Humanity of Key West and the Lower Florida Keys, Inc, and Habitat of Humanity of Marathon, Inc., received similar resolutions in 2001. Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys, Inc. complies with all local plans and regulations for the improvement of the eligible areas, as designated by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida. SECTION 2. This Resolution shall be forwarded to the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs, to enable Habitat for Humanity of the Upper Keys, Inc. to participate in the State of Florida's Community Improvement Act of 1980.
