Project status was discussed as follows in this narrative.
The primcipal efforts completed during this period were direCtly related to dry docking and
deployment planning.
The Va~denberg exited drydock on January 5th. Prior to removal, she was remarkCKJ for draft
forward I and aft by Colonna's perspnnel. Upon exit her draft, as observed by Ch~ Stevens of
Colon",'s, was 18' 5" forwards aOd 22' 6" aft as viewed from the starboard side. there was
a list of 12 deg to port. The Vanderiberg was towed by Moran of Varglnia to W3 Marine where
she willi be moored to complete the remainder of the work necessary prior to the tGW to Key
West.
Items a~dressed during the month of January were the removal of the bearing rings on the
number one and two barbettes, removal of the capstan heads and removal of the plating
from ~ radar dishes. Removal of, general debriS 8ndexfoliatlng paint clean up,apd
remova' efforts as relates to PCB cable and PCb ventilation gaskets continued throughout
the morlth. Preparations for the tow and for reefing were begun.
During "e month of January wast,., e Management ,Services removed 5.93 tons of general
debris ftom the W3 site SIMS removed 73, 047 Ibs of scrap metal for recycling. TW Services
remo~ 1,785 pounds of potenti8lly PCB containing material from the site.
A telecq,rnference between the,EPA, (Laura Casey, Ken Feely, Larry Fitchhorn, Oti$, Johnson),
the FWC (Bill Horn) and REEF~ERS (Chris Adryan, Joe KrulIck) took place on January

through January 23rd.
MARAD representatives Zee Goss, Kevin Smith and Morris Williford visited the vessel on
Tueada~. January 29th.
Items to be addressed during the month of February are as follows. General cleaning will
continue throughout the month and will include removal of general debris and sweeping up
and removal of paint chips. Steering gear and Capstans will be removed. The deg8usslng

will be oontlnued.
Prepa,..tions for the tow in accordance with the Army tow plan and The insurance surveyor
will continue throughout this period.
The seGond inspection Process prior to pressing and sealing tanks is to begin with the USCG
on Feb~ry 1st. A tank inap&Ction..aheet to be used by both Sector Hampton Roads and
Sector t(ey West for coordination bf the two phased process has been requested.
Inspectipns are scheduled for February 14th. 2008. Participants in this inspection .re Pat
Ander&qn. Laura Casey. Ken F~. Laura Johnson (of the EPA), BHI Hom (ofthefWC), Lt.
Brett Ct1miel, Lt. Wes James (of the USCG), Chris Adryen, Wes Roots and Kevin Weatherby

A teleqonference between membtrs of ARK and the FWC in regard to security was
sch~1ed for February 6th at 4:oQpm at the request of Captain Brad Williams. The Security
Ope,..ons Plan for the Vandenberg Deployment as developed by Capt. Williams is, to be
distri~ed to the teleconference Parties prior to the. teleconference.

The v~ssel is scheduled to leave Norfolk, VA on or about March 1, 2008 and arrive in Key
West qn March 12th. She will ~in at the East Quay Wall until May 14th and will be
deployed to the sea floor on May 15th, 2008
The ~xt monthly conference call is scheduled for Tuesday. March 4th, 2008 at 1:00 pm.
