ON BEHALF OF THE VERY- LOW INCOME/HANDICAPPED HOUSEHOLD OF JULIA AND FEDERICO RODRIGUEZ, B 16 EIGHTH AVENUE, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA ITEM BACKGROUND: Mobile home of the Rodriguez family (4 adults, 3 of whom are handicapped) is severely damaged by Hurricane Georges. Habitat for Humanity (Lower Keys) has completed a reconstruction of the property, installing a like new, handicapped accessible mobile home. Value of Habitat's construction estimated at $60,000 +, actual cost approximately $26,000. Habitat now seeks additional rehabilitation funds in support of their effort from recaptured funds reserved for very-low/low income housing rehabilitation. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: Resolution 179-1999 (April, 1999) Authorized the dedication of remaining recaptured funds from Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program Funds in the amount of$14,513 to Habitat for Humanity in support of the reconstruction of the Rodriguez property damaged totally damaged by Hurricane Georges. ON BEHALF OF THE VERY-LOW INCOME/HANDICAPPED HOUSEHOLD OF JULIA AND FREDERICO RODRIGUEZ, B16 EIGHTH AVENUE, STOCK ISLAND, FLORIDA WHEREAS, The Monroe County Housing Authority is the County's program administrator for the County's recaptured funds from the Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program with the State of Florida; and WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. is recognized as a qualified partner providing construction and housing rehabilitation services to very-low and low-income households in Monroe County; and WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. has replaced the Hurricane damaged home of Julia and Fredrico Rodriguez with a handicap accessible unit and have exceeded the anticipated costs; WHEREAS, the value of the construction services provided far exceeds the funding provided in support of this project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, that Monroe County hereby: Authorizes the expenditure by the Special Programs Office, Monroe County Housing Authority of funding in the amount of$4,125.00 ($3,750.00 from #100-01012-530340, $375.00 from #100-01012- 530341) recaptured under the Elderly Homeowner Rehabilitation Program for reimbursement to Habitat of Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, Inc. for authorized costs in the rehabilitation of the property of Frederico/JuIia Rodriguez, Manuela Rodriguez, and Nery Rodriguez, a very low income household, located at B 16 Eighth Avenue, Stock Island, Florida, PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida at a regular meeting on said Board on the _ day of , A.D., 2000 BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY FLORIDA Mayor Freeman Mayor Pro Tern Neugent Commissioner Reich Commissioner Williams Commissioner Harvey By: Shirley Freeman, Mayor/Chairman (SEAL) ATTEST: DANNY L.
