ITEM BACKGROUND: The Marine Resources Office routinely uses marine contractors to remove non -hurricane related derelict vessels and marine debris. Establishing contracts with pre -qualified firms to provide services in various areas of the keys will provide for a more efficient derelict vessel removal program, meet Purchasing Guidelines, and eliminate the need for contracts for individual jobs. It is anticipated that the total cost for all contractors selected will be approximately $270,000 per year, PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: March 2008- Approved selection of all thirteen vendors who responded to the RFQ for derelict vessel and marine debris removal. November 2007- Approved waiving purchasing policy to allow for removal on derelict vessels until contractors can be qualified and contracts can be executed.
