Hi. Rick. thanks 50 much for taking my call last week about possible funding for the Harlem Ambassadors exhibition game Feb. 2t> 2009, at Coral Shores High School.
The chamber is co-sponsoring this eyent that will benefit the Coral Shores High School Athletic Department and the chamber.
We haye gotten excellent reports from other areas about this Globelrotter-styie basketball game. (Key West Rotary did this exhibition for Seyen years. and club officials say it workad out yery
welL)
Our aim is to reach out to at-risk children. aUowing them to attend tM game at no charge. The Harlem Ambassadors haye a strong anti.;:irug> prO-SChool message.
Other organizers tell us this exhibition 9ame is yery attractiye to the middle-school age layeL We belieye that the Ambassadors will haye a posltiye influence on youngsters wilD need a nudge
in the right direction - to stay off drugs, stay in school and do eyery1hing they can to excel in life.
As I mentioned. we would loye to haye a $10.000 donation to coyer the cost of the team, hotel rooms and post-game meal. At that funding leyel. we would be happy to admit, for free, any
child or group of children who may enjoy the game and benefit from the message.
We would also giye the Monroe County Sheriff's Office top sponsorship billing.
Please let me know if you haye any questions, and thank you so much for considering this requast.
