A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE
COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THAT THE CITY OF KEY WEST AND THE
NAVY AIR STATION BOCA CHICA APPOINT REPRESENTATIVES TO THE KEY
WEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AD HOC COMMITTEE ON NOISE
WHEREAS, Monroe County has established a Key West International Airport Ad Hoc
Committee on Noise due to the many complaints of residents of the City of Key West; and
WHEREAS, Key West International Airport is surrounded by the City of Key West; and
WHEREAS. the City of Key West has a noise ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the City of Key West has recently passed a resolution regarding its concern for
airport noise; and
WHEREAS, Key West International Airport has air space adjacent to that of NAS Boca
Chica; and
WHEREAS, NAS Boca Chica acts as the approach and departure control for NAS Boca
Chica; and
WHEREAS, NAS Boca Chica, the City of Key West, and Monroe County share common
concerns regarding aircraft routing and noise; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. It is imperative that the City of Key West and the Naval Air Station Boca Chica
appoint representatives to regularly attend the Key West International Airport Ad Hoc Committee
on noise, which meets on a bi-monthly basis, the next meeting being scheduled for September 10,
2001 at 2:00 PM at the Harvey Government Center, Key West.
Section 2.
That the City and NAS Boca Chica appointees should act as liaisons between
the County and the appointing body.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of County Commissioners of Morroe County, Florida,
at a regular meeting of said Board held on the
18th day of July, 2001.
