A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA TO
ADD A SUPPLEMENTAL NAME TO OCEAN BAY DRIVE
(MM 99 OCEAN), KEY LARGO, MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA TO BE KNOWN AS "NICK PRAM DRWE" IN
HONOR OF FALLEN MONROE COUNTY SHERIFF'S
DEPUTY NICK PHAM.
WHEREAS, Deputy Nick Pham was an outstanding member of the Momoe
County Sheriff's Department; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Pham earned a lifesaving award from the Momoe County
Sheriffs Office for CPR given to a fellow deputy who was having a seizure; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Pham chose traffic duty over more coveted assignments
because he wanted to keep people safe on the roads; and
WHEREAS, on November 26, 2008, the day before Thanksgiving, Deputy Pham
was killed in the line of duty when his patrol car collided with a semi-truck while
attempting to apprehend a high speed traffic violator; and
WHEREAS, fellow deputies have cited Deputy Pham for his professionalism, his
kinship, and his dedication and passion for the safety of our community; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Bob Peryam has requested an honorary supplemental name
be added to Ocean Bay Drive, Key Largo, Florida as a memorial to Deputy Nick Pham;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners ofMomoe County, Florida, that:
1. A supplemental name shall be added to Ocean Bay Drive, Key Largo
(MM99 Ocean), Florida to be known as "Nick Pham Drive" in honor of
fallen Momoe County Sheriff s Deputy Nick Pham.
2. As a supplemental name to the established official street name, area
mapping or post office revisions are not required.
3. The Clerk of the Court is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of
this Resolution to Sheriff Bob Peryam, 5501 College Road, Stock Island,
Florida for forwarding to the family of fallen Deputy Nick Pham and to
the Postmaster, 400 Whitehead Street, Key West, Florida 33040.
