Dear
,
We are celebrating! Sinc started Take Stock In Children 10 years ago, we have signed
contracts with a record number of Monroe County'students. In the last four days, we were
thrilled to sign new contracts with 60 handpicked, eager students. With your support, we have
provided "Scholarships, Mentors and Hope" to 300 students now in 9 different Keys middle and
high schools, with another 266 in college or already graduated-for a total of 566.
Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty through education---one child at a time---and we're
doing it! Our unique mentoring and scholarship program starts at 'fh grade and continues
through graduation from college. All qualifying Monroe County middle and high school students
from low-income families having the desire, motivation and ability to go to college are
automatically qualified and are admitted to our program.
The costs of college and the Florida Pre-paid contracts have skyrocketed; they have doubled over
the last two years. The good news is that your contribution of $6000 this year will enable one
more Monroe County student to attend college. Through the years, our local leadership donors -
Edward Knight, John Padget, Sheriff Peryam, Andy and Stephanie Griffiths, John Taylor, the
Ocean Reef Foundation, the Keys Children's Foundation, and two anonymous donors
participate in varying degrees to match your individual contributions. All local monies raised
continue to be matched by the state legislature.
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF "DOUBLE-MATCHING" MEANS WE REAliZE $4 FOR EVERY $1
THAT YOU CONTRIBUTE. AND, AS ALWAYS, 100% OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION GOES TO
OUR CHILDREN AND NONE TO ADMINISTRATIVE OR OTHER COSTS.
Many of our contributors have a tradition of financing one or more students every year,
currently matched at the rate of $6000 per student. But, we remind you that all contributions
are double-matched, so all donations are welcome. We solicit your support only once a year. We
don't do fund-raisers, events or dinners. We send you this one letter inviting your participation.
The campai n b ins today and ends on uesday, January 1 th at our Annual Do rs F~>>
