RESOLUTION NO. 091-2010
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MONROE COUNTY
STATE HOUSING INITATIVES PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) PROGRAM
ADM INIS TRA TORTO EXECUTE RANCE PROCEEDS CHECKS ISSUED FOR
REPAIRS OF SHIP MORTGAGED PROPERTIES
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Housing Authority is the County's
program administrator for the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, with
a fiduciary responsibility to act in the best interests of Monroe County; and
WHEREAS, the Executive Director of the Monroe County Housing
Authority is designated as Monroe County SHIP Program Administrator; and
WHEREAS, the Monroe County SHIP program has made subordinate
mortgag1e loans under the SHIP Homebuyers Assistance and Rental Rehabilitation
Programs annually since 1994 resulting in hundreds of mortgage loans; and
WHEREAS, SHIP mortgage recipients are required to maintain insurance
coveragc;~ on the mortgaged properties; and
WHEREAS, insurance proceeds checks issued for covered damages are
issued in the names of the homeowner, the first mortgage holder and the secondary (SHIP
program) mortgage holder; and
WHEREAS, the execution of the insurance proceeds check is a
ministerial function which, for purposes of efficiency, can be carried out by the SHIP
Program Administrator.
NOW THE ORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA THAT:
The Monroe County . SHIP Program Administrator is hereby authorized to
execute insurance proceeds checks issued for covered damages on any
SHIP mortgaged property.
