Marathon, Florida
A Special meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioner's convened at
7:00 P.M., on the above date at the Marathon Government Center. Present and answering to roll
call were Commissioner Wilhelmina Harvey, Commissioner George Neugent, Commissioner
Mary Kay Reich, Commissioner Nora Williams, and Mayor Shirley Freeman. Also present were
Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; James T. Hendrick, County Attorney; James Roberts, County
Administrator; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public.
ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS, DELETIONS
There were no Additions, Corrections, or Deletions to the Agenda.
TOWN MEETING WITH CITIZENS IN MONROE COUNTY
Marge Pierce discussed Loop Road and the proposal from the Miccosukee Indian Tribe
that had been previously considered by the Board.
Rich Fortman thanked the Board for their support of the Marathon Marina Operation and
improvements and discussed the audit requirements of the contract between the Board and the
Marathon Economic Council for the management of the marina,
Russ Teall addressed the Board concerning the Marathon Marina, Boot Key Harbor, and
Marathon Park.
Joanie Nelson discussed the City of Marathon and interlocals between the new city and
Monroe County.
The Board also discussed the recent resignation of Kirby Kay Scheiman from the
Marathon Economic Development Council who is responsible for operating the marina and
questioned how Mr. Scheiman's successor would be selected. Rich Fortman briefly addressed the
Board.

There being no further business to come before the Board, the Town Hall Meeting was
adjourned.
