November 19, 1996 Mr. William Bibo Monroe County 5100 College Road Key West, FL 33030 RE: Key West Airport ., Dear Mr. Bibo: As you requested at our meeting on November 4, 1996, we have reviewed the requirements for temporary air conditioning in the existing terminal and propose the following. 1) Temporary air conditioning will begin May 1, 1997. 2) 23 tons of air will be provided, based on the requirements set forth in the specifications.. 3) We will use both the existing duct work and new flex duct to direct the air to the required areas. Existing supplies will be used. 4) The existing INS/customs area described as Phase II in the construction documents will not be air conditioned. 5) The rest rooms on the east end of the facility will receive air. The restrooms which service the restaurant will not be air conditioned. 6) We will either use roof top units or a wall mounted type depending on the situation. 7) Necessary electrical will be provided to properly power the equipment per code. 8) Installation of this temporary system will begin as required to meet the May 1, 1997 date. 9) If the new terminal annex starts quickly, INS/customs should only be without air conditioning for approximately thirty (30) 1100 Gillespie Avenue · Sarasota, Florida 34236 · (941) 365-1522 · Fax (941) 365-1805 '!... ...... This price reflects our original alternate bid, plus the additional monies required to provide air to the restrooms. Should you have any questions, please give me a call. Sincerely, D . L. ": Re: Key West International Airport Dear Mr. Bibo: In a letter dated December 9, 1996, which was sent to Volkert and copied to you, we explained some of the electrical issues which Benson Electric felt would require additional action. The first of these was the necessity of relocating the overhead conductors and poles which currently cqnflict with the new annex facility. Enclosed is a letter from Benson Electric explaining their correction methods and a cost associated with the work. With the additional work required by our firm, the total to complete this change wo~ld be as follows: Basic electrical work - labor and material per attached letter Transformer pad - labor and material per CES requirements Asphalt repair Contractors profit, overhead & bond $48,600.00 2,840.00 1,400.00 5.284.00 Total change $58,124.00 CES has recently notified us that there will be no charges for their work (see copy enclosed) however, we have yet to hear from Bell South. Should the County not wish to proceed with this change then we would assume CES would relocate pole R4-16 to avoid the conflict with the Annex building, then provide an overhead drop from pole R4 -17 to the Annex. However, this may be a problem. Currently the transformers on pole R4-17, located in front of Cape Air building, cause interference with FAA transmissions and this configuration would add to that situation. Also, this arrangement doesn't address the current service to the Conch Flyer or Cape Air building, although this wasn't part of the scope of this project. Please let me know your thoughts on this issue so we can proceed with the necessary electrical drawings. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please give me a call. Re: Key West Internqtionat Airport Change Order PtPPosal #1 I t Dear Marshall: I Existing site cODditio~ necessitate the relocation of City Electric System pole #R4_16! and the overhead conquctors to City Electric System pole #R4-17 which is located in fro t oftbe "temporary" building to the west of the new Annex. We propose to provide the labor and materials necl'ssaty to complete the following work except as noted: ! ".. : 1. City Electric System will install a new concrete p~le midway along the fence which III separates Fed Ex from Avis. City Electric System and Bell South will reroute their overhead lines to this pole. We have not included City Electric System or Bell South fees. if any, but we will coordinate the work with them I I I 2. We will install a primary duct bank per attached City Electric System specifications I from the new pole to the island area next to City Electric System's pole R4-17 ! (approximately 300'). "The duct bank will be encased in concrete and will contain two (21 4" PVC conduits for Primaries. We have included eXc4vation to approximately 48" below grade, concrete encased ducts. 4/0 ground, rebar where subject to traffic, backfiU compacted to 95%, riser to the new pole, primary cable, arid the necessary labor and materials to make the system operation We have not included the pad for the transformer (assume 5' 0" above grade, similar to Mariner's Cove), fina1!asphalt or concrete patching, and City Electric System or Bell South fees. ifany. AIsp, Porter should allow for formwork and concrete to encase the i new pole up to 48" if r;equired by City Electric System or some other means of protecti01 frQm traffic per Volkert's recommendation. We have allowed fOT silt control using hay bales during dewatering of the trenches, I crushed rocks as nece$S3.Iy if cxcavatc:d material is poor for compaction, removal of spoil from site (except for h~y, which will go in the dumpster). 3.
