WHEREAS, EcoWeek November 1st to 7th., 2010 is an annual event to be held throughout Monroe County (Florida Keys) celebrating and educating residents and visitors on the importance of environmental preservation and the future of Monroe COWlty; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County supports EcoWeek and finds that it is important to educate the citizens and visitors of Monroe County on environmental preservation; and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors ofEcoWeek have requested the use of the Monroe COWlty Seal and Logo in their outreach materials, brochures, press releases, website(s), posters, advertisement and souvenirs; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County must give express approval for the use or display of the county seal pursuant to ~ 165.043, Florida Statues; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, THAT: 1. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County supports EeoWeek and wiD authorize the organization to use and display the Monroe County seal in their outreach materials, brochures, press releases, website(s), posters, advertisement, promotional materials and any other collateral materials solely for the purpose of promoting EcoWeek. 2. Monroe County must be listed as an event sponsor on all outreach materials, brochures, press releases, website(s), posters, advertisement, promotional materials and any other collateral materials. Acceptable credit lines in advertisements, posters, website(s), etc., include ~Sponsored by Monroe County." If there is a question in regards to the appropriate use of the County's seal or logo, County staffwill be available to help determine the appropriate use. EcoWeek organizers shall provide Monroe County with samples of all promotional materials developed for the promotion of this event ifthe County's seal is used or displayed. County staffwiU review samples of all promotional materials for approval. 3. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County requires that the seal not be used in materials or items that may be interpreted as distasteful or offensive and must be appropriate for all age groups. Monroe County staff shall have the authority to refuse use ofthe County's seal if necessary. AU content and photos, information, logos, etc. used in advertisements and promotional items must be appropriately licensed. 4. Monroe County is not responsible for errors or omissions contained in any of the information published by EcoWeek, and makes no representations as to the accuracy of the information. Language to this effect must appear on any item containing the Monroe County seal. s. The Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County directs staff, when and if requested (following proper protocol), to provide limited guidance to Eco Week organizers, and limited staff support for school education events during the EcoWeek (November 1-7, 2010) event only. 6. Monroe County will direct staff to include a temporary link to the EcoWeek website from the County's website from September 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. Staff will also be directed to Include EcoWeek information on the appropriate departmental newsletters. ITEM BACKGROUND: Commissioner constituent appointments will be made from each Commission district, with the exception of District 5, as Mayor Murphy will chair the HSAB Working committee. The other members of the committee will consist of the current HSAB members. PREVIOUS RELEVANT BOCC ACTION: At the June 16, 2010 BOCC meeting, the Board approved the creation ofthe HSAB Working Committee to review and possibly amend the policies and regulations governing the advisory board.
