A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO.
214-2002 PERTAINING TO THE BUILDING ,
DEPARTMENT FEE SCHEDULE TO MORE
EFFECTIVELY IMPLEMENT THE TRUE COSTS OF _
PROVIDING THE SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITHc-? '
THE BUILDING PERMITTING AND INSPECTION • _;
SYSTEM AND TO REPEAL RESOLUTION NO. 165-
2000 [ENGINEER CONDUCTED INSPECTIONS]
WHEREAS, the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners wish to provide the citizens of the
County with the best possible service in the most cost effective and reasonable manner; and
WHEREAS,we find that it would be in the best interests of the general public to charge the true cost for
such services, thereby placing the burden of such costs directly upon those persons deriving the benefit;
and
WHEREAS,the Director of Growth Management has demonstrated that the existing fee schedule does
not reflect the true cost of providing the services to the persons requesting the Building Department
services; and
WHEREAS, after hearing testimony and evidence presented as to the appropriate fee schedule; and
WHEREAS,the provisions of the engineer conducted inspection program are no longer applicable; and
WHEREAS, we concur with the conclusions and findings of the Growth Management Director and adopt
them as our own;NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY,
FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Resolution no: 214-2002 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Pursuant to Monroe County Code, the following building permit fees are hereby established:
(A)Building Application Fees:
1. New commercial buildings 1500.00
2. New duplex or multi-family buildings 1500.00
3. New conventional single family home 750.00
4. New modular single family home 500.00
5. New replacement mobile home 52.00
6. All over the counter permits and signs 52.00
7. Residential repairs/remodel (less than$10,000) 52.00
8. Residential repairs/remodel ($10,000 or more) 100.00
9. Commercial repairs/remodel (less than $10,000) 52.00

(H)Re-inspection Fees:
When extra inspection trips are necessary due to any one of the following reasons,
a charge of twenty-five ($25.00)dollars shall be made for first and fifty($50.00)
for each subsequent reinspection:
(1) Wrong address;
(2) Work not in accordance with plans and specifications;
(3) Rejected work resulting from faulty construction;
(4) Repairs or corrections not made when inspection is called;
(5) Work not ready for inspection when called;

(6) Permit not posted.
The payment of re-inspection fees shall be made before any further inspections
will be made for the person/entity owing it.
(I) LDR and Non-building code site and plans review fees:
1. H.E.I. evaluation review and site visit 125.00
2. Compliance review for new development without conditional
use approval:
Single family and mobile homes 75.00
Duplex,multi- family and commercial 150.00

3. Compliance review for expansion of the footprint of existing structures,expansion

(J)ROGO/NROGO and privatized plans compliance review application fees:
Any plans to be submitted for ROGO/NROGO projects (except for those adhered under
conditional use approval) and plans submitted under Chapter 553, Florida Statutes (Privatized
Plans Review) will be required to file an application for compliance review with non-building
technical codes and LDRs prior to processing of the building permit application. This up-front
compliance review is not required for permits to be issued under a conditional use approval.

8. Renewal of an expired ROGO permit or a permit for a major structure shall be based

Section 2. Resolution no. 165-2000 is hereby repealed.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward one (1) certified copy of this
Resolution to the Division of Growth Management.
