Special Meeting/Budget Hearing
Board of County Commissioners
Monday, September 13, 2010
Key Largo, Florida
Special Meeting of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners convened at
5:00 P.M., at the Murray Nelson Government Center. Present and answering to roll call were
Commissioner Heather Carruthers, Commissioner Mario DiGennaro, Commissioner George
Neugent, Commissioner Kim Wigington, and Mayor Sylvia Murphy. Also present at the
meeting were Roman Gastesi, County Administrator; Debbie Frederick, Assistant County
Administrator; Suzanne Hutton, County Attorney; Danny L. Kolhage, Clerk; Isabel C. DeSantis,
Deputy Clerk; County Staff, members of the press and radio; and the general public.
ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS, DELETIONS
Connie Cyr, Aide to the County Administrator informed the Board that the public input
section on the agenda would be agenda item B 1 a.
PUBLIC INPUT AND DISCUSSION OF THE
TENTATIVE FISCAL YEAR 2011 MONROE COUNTY BUDGET
Roman Gastesi, County Administrator presented the Board with the document entitled
Monroe County, Florida Board of County Commissioners Fiscal Year 2011 Proposed Budget,
dated September 13, 2010. The following individual addressed the Board: Mary Vanden Brook,
representing the Monroe County Health Department. Motion was made by Commissioner
DiGennaro and seconded by Mayor Murphy to fund 50% of the Health Department's budget
request. After further discussion, the motion was withdrawn.
The Board discussed various areas of the proposed Fiscal Year 2011 proposed budget
including Staff direction.
FIRE & AMBULANCE DISTRICT 1
BOARD OF GOVERNORS
The Board of Governors for the Fire and Ambulance District I convened. Present and
answering to roll call were Commissioner Heather Carruthers, Mayor Sylvia Murphy, and
Commissioner Kim Wigington. Absent were and City of Layton Councilman Clark Snow and
City of Layton Mayor Norman Anderson.
The Board discussed the Board of Governors proposed Fiscal Year 2011 Budget. There
was no public input.

There being no further business, the Fiscal Year 2011 budget meeting of Board of
Governors for the Fire and Ambulance District I was adjourned.

The Board of County Commissioners meeting reconvened with all commissioners
present.
The Clerk announced the Final adoption date Marathon Government Center
l ocated a scheduled 2798
for Friday, September 17, 2010 at 5:05 P.M. at the
Overseas Highway, MM 47.5 (Gulf), Marathon, Florida.
There being no further business, the meeting of the Board of County Commissioners was
adjourned.
